Do Parents Have Rights?

Posted by Godefroi on December 18, 2008

A Letter from Michael Farris,
President of ParentalRights.org.

Dear Friend of Parental Rights,

I was in the United States Senate this past week meeting with lawyers for a Senate office.  They told me directly what I have been hearing indirectly on a regular basis ever since the election.

Those who want to change family policy in America to comply with international law are preparing a full-scale effort to seek ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child during this next Congress.  Barbara Boxer recently told a planning group that they intend to use children’s health care as leverage to seek ratification of this UN children’s rights treaty.

Please link to our website to see a succinct summary of the problems with this UN treaty.

The strength of their forces has been greatly increased with the addition of Hillary Clinton as the nominee for Secretary of State.  She will have direct control over the submission of this treaty to the Senate and will acquire the authority under international law to sign any other treaty on any subject.

Hillary Clinton was the person who made the announcement for the Convention on the Rights of the Child when her husband’s administration signed the treaty.  Seeking its ratification is a lifelong dream for her.

Our situation is grim if we were to look only at the position of the elected officials.

However, recent post-election polling demonstrates that almost 70% of Americans do not believe that the use of international law in American courts on such matters is appropriate.  Less than 20% favor the use of international law. (The rest are undecided).   Virtually every sub-group in America opposes this kind of use of international law.

America is on our side. However, we have to be able to get the word out to help people hear the truth about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Our proposed Parental Rights Amendment will permanently stop this treaty.  So we have a one-two punch planned for the internationalists.

First, we must build a huge grassroots movement of patriotic Americans who believe that good families should be able to raise their children without worrying about compliance with international law.

Second, these same grassroots forces need to convince our elected officials that we are not content with defeating this treaty for today alone.  We insist on a permanent solution.  We need the Parental Rights Amendment.

I need you to do two things to help this become a reality.  First, please send a copy of this letter to everyone you know who believes in parental rights and American patriotism.

Second, we need to raise a war chest to get prepared to launch a massive grassroots campaign.  The other side has millions of dollars left in their campaign coffers, and they have the President of the United States, the Secretary of State and all the media waiting to carry their message.

We can win the debate because we have the truth on our side.  And we have public opinion.  But we won’t win if we can’t reach people.

Will you please make as big a gift as you can to support Parentalrights.org?

Here is what they are saying about us.  At the hearing which featured Barbara Boxer, one of the speakers said that the people who will oppose this treaty are the “narcissistic sovereignty crowd.”  In other words, those who love America first are so guilty of excessive self-love that he describes us as having the mental illness of narcissism.

This is their real heart.  Not only do they want international law to control our families.  They think that we are mentally ill for loving America.

It is time for those of us who believe in loving our families and loving America to rise up!  We will not surrender this country or our children to such people.

Get involved today!  The battle is about to begin.

For God, family, and America,

Michael Farris

Urge World Leaders: Oppose UN Resolution Condoning Hamas Rocket Attacks

Posted by Godefroi on January 22, 2008

As Israel struggles to defend its civilians from deadly Hamas rocket attacks—200 in the past few days alone, averaging nearly one per hour—the Arab and Islamic states have called an emergency “Special Session” of the UN Human Rights Council for this Wednesday. Their proposed resolution would invert the simple reality that Hamas and its terrorist allies are deliberately targeting civilians, whereas Israel in its defensive measures takes pains to avoid harming civilians. Morally, Canada and the European Union countries are among the most important members of the 47-nation council, and it is vital that they register their opposition. Take action now — urge world leaders this Wednesday to support democracies and oppose terrorism.

Go to UN Watch…oppose this travesty.

Another Open Letter

Posted by Godefroi on November 20, 2007

This time addressed to Mahmoud Abbas, from a group of 18 Palestinian Canadian community Associations.   (Nod:  IsraPundit)

We the Palestinian Canadian community assembly at the Palestinian National Voice Preparatory Conference in Hamilton, Canada, issue this letter out of profound concern regarding the present state of the Palestinian national struggle and the November 2007 “peace” conference to be hosted by the United States in Annapolis, Maryland.

Opening salvo – we are not necessarily interested in “peace”.  By the way, what sense does “Palestinian National” make, when there has NEVER been a nation called Palestine?  Isn’t that the basis for the national struggle…they’re trying to make a nation where there hasn’t been one?  How is it that these Arabs always forget about Jordan (Mandatory Arab Palestine)?  Convenience, I assume.

While Palestinians still suffer from the disaster of the Oslo Accords, the Palestinian National Authority has now agreed to attend another round of flawed negotiations.  This time it does so under the pressure of North American and European nations that have actively collaborated with Israel to divide the Palestinian people and inflict collective punishment and other war crimes against them. Even now Israel is being allowed to deny the Palestinians the basic necessities for a functioning society through a humiliating siege against the Palestinian people in response to the exercise of Palestinian democracy and the adherence to its results.

What made Oslo a disaster?  From their perspective, it’s probably the idea that a state of Israel might continue to exist.  For the normal mind, however, the failure of Oslo would be the fact that not a single one of the terms agreed to by Arafat was implemented to even the slightest degree.  Anti-Israel crows will no doubt harp that Israel did not fully withdraw from the West Bank and Gaza, as they said they would – but it should be noted that more than 90% of the territory that Israel agreed to give to the PA is now PA-controlled.  The rhetoric about “collective punishment”, “war crimes”, and “humiliating siege” are not worth a response.  As for their exercise of democracy, the voters always suffer when approving the leadership of criminals.

Rant, concluded

Posted by Godefroi on October 8, 2007

Jeez…there was just SO MUCH to beat up in this speech, it was mind-numbing to try to get to it all. If anyone sees this and would like to point out any silliness I missed, I’d be appreciative.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Three, aggressions against indigenous cultures and national values.

Culture is the manifestation of identity and the key to the survival of nations and the foundation for their interaction with others. In an organized movement, indigenous cultures that are messengers of monotheism, love and fraternity are being subjected to broad and destructive aggressions. National customs and values are humiliated, and the self-esteem and character of nations are ridiculed and defamed.

I wonder if he’s referring to the near eradication of Assyrians, one the oldest Christian communities on Earth? Or the threats of annihilation he himself has breathed against the Jews of Israel (read the last paragraph of the linked document), not to mention the daily attacks against them, or the onslaught against the indigenous Jews of Palestine by the marauding Muslims? Do you think he was ever taught about the aggressive Arab Muslim jihad against the indigenous Persians that he now perpetuates?

AHMADINEJAD (THROUGH TRANSLATOR): The purpose is to promote blind emulations, consumerism, skepticism toward God and human values, and plundering other people’s wealth by big powers.

[I’m skipping point 4]

AHMADINEJAD (THROUGH TRANSLATOR): Five: Ignoring noble values and the promotion of deception and lies. Some powers sacrifice all human values, including honesty, purity, and trust for the advancement of their goals.

Rant Analysis, Part 2

Posted by Godefroi on October 1, 2007

Actually, my personal observations are still on hold, pending more free time. 🙂

Today, I’m highlighting some thoughts posted by James Lewis at American Thinker.

—————————————————————————————————————————————

This will sound alarming. A literal reading of Ahmadi-Nejad’s UN address suggests that he is predicting a total war coming soon.

The key is in his invocation and his conclusion. Normal official communications by Muslims start with, “In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.” A’jad followed that formula immediately with:

“Oh God, hasten the arrival of Imam Al-Mahdi and grant him good health and victory and make us his followers and those who attend to his rightfulness.” [italics in the official Iranian version]

Sounds like a pretty standard invocation, but it’s not. It is a specific call for the Shiite Messiah, who will bring a final holy war, the final jihad, which in the Khomeini cult implies all-out war with the infidels to bring about the Millenarian Age of Paradise on Earth. (For Khomeini, the term “infidels” includes Sunni Muslims, who do not recognize the Mahdi). That is why Khomeini started the nuclear program twenty years ago, and why it has been pushed consistently by all the major cult leaders. [A note here: this is a similar wish for us Christians; that the Messiah will return in power to claim his own and put an end to evil in the world. The important difference here is that we aren’t fomenting nuclear war in hopes of making this happen…our weapon is prayer – GdB]

A’jad put the message explicitly in his peroration, i.e., his summary and conclusion.

“I officially declare that the age of relations arising from the Second World War as well as materialistic thought based on arrogance and domination is now over.” (italics added)

Translation: The West, and particularly the United States, emerged dominant after World War Two. Israel declared independence in 1948. The dominance of the West is now over.

A’jad’s use of the phrase “I officially declare” indicates how he views himself as Allah’s representative on earth; a very common paranoid fantasy, but one that is taught by the Khomeini cult as part of its explicit doctrine. Cult members who are otherwise quite sane can believe such things (as in the Rev. Jim Jones’ suicide cult following.)

This declaration is followed by A’jad’s messianic prediction.

“Humanity has passed a perilous precipice and the age of monotheism (i.e., Khomeini Shiism), purity, affinity, respecting others, justice and peace-loving has now commenced.” (I.e., the End of Times is at hand; italics added).

“It is the divine promise that the truth will be victorious and the earth will be inherited by the righteous.” Translation: We will win the coming war.

“The era of darkness will end, prisoners will return home, the occupied lands will be freed, Palestine and Iraq will be liberated from the domination of the occupiers, and the people of America and Europe will be free from the pressures exerted by the Zionists.” (That’s clear enough.)

“Without any doubt, the Promised One who is the ultimate Savior will come. … This is the promise of God, and therefore it will be fulfilled.”

The “Promised One” refers to the messiah, the “occluded Mahdi,” who disappeared in the 9th century as a five year old child, and whose return Khomeinists are imminently expecting. This passage is notably blasphemous to the Sunni wing of radical Islam, [a fact that escaped me when I wrote about this – GdB] which admits of no equals to Allah and his Prophet Mohammed. A’jad is saying that the Mahdi will indeed transcend Mohammed, who did not bring about Paradise on Earth.

But the Mahdi will not come without actions of the believers.

“Let’s play a part in the fulfillment of all this glory and beauty.”

“I wish for a bright future for all human beings and the dawn of liberation and freedom for all humans … A wish which I expect will be fulfilled in the near future.” (Italics added)

Don’t forget that A’jad already fulfilled his Islamic obligation to send an ultimatum to the leaders of the infidel nations to convert to Islam or die. He sent personal letters to President Bush and German Chancellor Merkel saying exactly that. In his version of Islamic law, he has fulfilled the requirements for starting his holy war against the West.
Or, to put it in his typical threat language, he has said,

“If you would like to have good relations with the Iranian nation in the future… bow down before the greatness of the Iranian nation and surrender. If you don’t accept [to do this], the Iranian nation will… force you to surrender and bow down.”

Please read it all.

The Madman’s Rant

Posted by Godefroi on September 27, 2007

I found this item at Pajamas member Brutally Honest (posted online at this Washington Post site). It’s the speech sermon delivered by Iran’s President to the U.N. Assembly during his recent visit to New York. Some (de)constructive criticism and analysis is in order.

————————————————————————————————————————–

In the name of God, the compassionate and the merciful, oh, God, hasten the arrival of Imam al-Mahdi and grant him good health and victory and make us his followers and those who attest to his rightfulness.

The presence of the Mahdi is a precursor to the Islamic version of the return of Jesus. This Jesus will then smash all the crosses…meaning that he will obliterate the falseness of Christianity. I suppose that since the current U.N. staff is so cowed by the OIC, no one raised an eyebrow at this.

Mr. President, excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased and grateful to the almighty to have the opportunity once again to attend this important universal forum.

In the present tumultuous world and with the predominance of loud outcries, [do you think he means cartoon-rage versions 1 and 2, or perhaps Rushdie-rage versions 1 and 2? Probably not…] threats [like the one I mentioned here, where Iran’s religious leaders cite 20 million suicide bombers?] and tensions [like these?], and at a time when the big powers are unable to solve present problems [like Iran’s resumed interest in creating nuclear weapons], when mistrust in regional and international arenas is on the rise [gee…why would there be mistrust in the world with venerable leaders like him?], when the psychological security of societies is being targeted by an onslaught of political and propaganda designs [Propaganda? Like Farfur and his insectoid successor teaching hatred of Israel? Or putting hostages on television in hijab?], and disappointment prevails over efficacy of policies and actions of the international organizations in the establishment of a durable peace and security [can’t argue with that…I’m EXTREMELY disappointed in the UNHRC and IAEA, not to mention the General Assembly, for not putting this idiot out on his ear.], and the protection of human rights is being weakened [Does he mean like the right to pursue ones own sexual proclivities, to dress or cut one’s hair as one pleases, or pursue any religion], I plan to touch upon and explain the roots of and the ways out of these predicaments and some of the principal challenges facing our world.

I will also speak to you about the need for remedying the present situation, prospects for a brighter and more hopeful future, and about the appearance of the sublime and beauty, compassion and generosity, justice and blossoming of all the God-given human talents and the prominence of faith in God and realization of the promise of God. [Too bad he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.]

I will then submit to your judgment the nuclear issue of Iran as a reality and testing ground for the measurement of honesty, efficacy, steadfastness and accomplishment.

In the closing part of my statement, I will offer my proposals.

AHMADINEJAD (THROUGH TRANSLATOR): Dear friends and colleagues, as you are all aware, mankind is currently facing important, numerous and diverse challenges and I will refer to some of them.

One, organized attempts to destroy the institution of family and to weaken the status of women. Family is the most sacred and valuable human institution that serves as the center of the purest mutual love and affection amongst mothers, fathers and children, and as a safe environment for the nurturing of human generations and a fertile ground for the blossoming of talents and compassion. [Safe, that is, unless you’re suspected of lewdness and must therefore be killed by your “loved ones”]

This institution has always been respected by all peoples, religions and cultures. [Right…] Today, we are witnessing an organized invasion by the enemies of humanity and plunderers to destroy this noble institution that is targeted by promoting lewdness, violence and by breaking the boundaries of chastity and decency.

The precious existence of women, as the manifestation of divine beauty and as the peak of kindness, affection and purity has been the target of heavy exploitation in recent decades by the holders of power and the owners of media and wealth.

In some societies, this beloved human has been reduced to a mere instrument of publicity and all the boundaries and protective shields of chastity, purity and beauty have been trampled. This is a colossal betrayal of human society, of succeeding generations and an irreparable blow to the pillar of social coherence, the family. [Of course, forcing them to make sure that they cover all of their hair and hide any hint of their figure is freeing and protecting these “beloved humans”]

Two, widespread violations of human rights, terrorism and occupation.

Something Simian This Way Comes….

Posted by Godefroi on September 20, 2007

And we’re letting their POS “leader” into our country (for the absolutely useless UN), inviting him to speak at our universities, and providing protection so he can “visit” Ground Zero (does that sound like someone dancing on a grave to anyone but me)??

What the hell is going on?

From Israel National News.

Iran Promises “Final Response” to US and Israel on October 12

by Ezra HaLevi

(IsraelNN.com) Iran has promised a devastating “final response” to supporters of the Jewish State on October 12, the Islamic Republic’s Quds (Jerusalem) Day.

That would include the U.S., of course.

“Supporters of the Zionist regime will receive their response during the world Quds Day’s rallies,” Iranian government spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham said at a weekly press conference Wednesday.

According to the state-controlled Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Elham was describing Iran’s planned response for US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s visit “to the occupied Palestine [sic].”

The US loses all opportunities to cooperate with regional and other world states by trying to support a regime (the Zionist regime) which is now at its weakest political and social position,” Elham said. “Supporters of the Zionist regime will definitely receive the final response for their support on Quds day.”

Quds Day is held each year on the last Friday of the Islamic month of Ramadan. It was instituted in 1979, following the Islamic revolution by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini.

[…]

On Quds Day in 2000, Khomeini’s successor Khamenei called for Israel’s destruction, saying it is “the only way to solve the problems of the Middle East.”

Open Threats of War

One of Khamenei’s top advisers, Major General Yahya Rahim-Safavi, declared Tuesday that Iran would strike “in shortest possible time” in case of any strike on its nuclear facilities. He referred specifically to the army of suicide-bombers and child-soldiers active during the Iran-Iraq war. “The enemy will face strong armed forces especially the Basij [suicide-bombers and child soldiers] if it unleashed a military attack on Iran,” he said. He claimed that the Basij army has 20 million members.

I look forward with great interest to the 12th of October.

Don’t you?

More Jihad in the Balkans

Posted by Godefroi on August 31, 2007

WorldNetDaily has a report about the ongoing genocide of Christian Serbs by Muslim ethnic Albanians, arguing that the U.N. forces that have been involved there since 1999 are actually assisting in the effort to eliminate the Serb population in favor of a “free and independent” Kosovo…a Muslim Kosovo, of course.  Excerpts below.

United Nations forces moved into Kosovo in 1999 to “stop genocide.”

But, according to a blistering new report from the American Council for Kosovo, U.N. troops have aided and abetted the deliberate, systematic and nearly complete ethnic cleansing of the mostly Christian Serb population by mostly Muslim ethnic Albanians.

“Every facet of the way of life of the Serbs of Kosovo is threatened by the new reality established since June 1999 under KFOR (the NATO Kosovo Force) and the U.N. and therefore the very existence of the Serbs there is threatened,” says the report “Hiding Genocide in Kosovo.”  “All kinds of persecution using all types of methods have been adopted,” the report says. “Throughout the territory of Kosovo, the Serbs have been persecuted, a persecution that is happening on their own territory, in their own country. They are denied basic human rights and are not equal to their Muslim counterparts under the law.

The U.N., in conjunction with Western powers, has been working toward this end, which they term “the final status.”

Meanwhile, the report on Kosovo violence looks at 12 municipalities, all of which had sizable Serbian Christian populations as recently as 1999. Today, the tiny Serb remnants are composed mainly of elderly and infirm simply incapable of moving.

Often, says the report, acts of violence against Serbs result in the arrest or detention of the victims. For instance, on Aug. 5, 2001, a hand grenade was thrown at the house of Vladimir Savic, records the diary of a Cernica Serb who himself was later killed by Albanians. Initially, Savic was reported killed in the blast. The grenade exploded just two meters from the main door and seriously wounded Savic and his wife, Stanica.

But when KFOR personnel arrived at the scene, they refused to provide the victims with first aid. Instead, they attempted to arrest their son, Miomor, who had been in the house with his wife and two children at the time of the explosion.

“Since the soldiers refused to help the wounded, their son carried them to his car and drove them without escort to the Greek military base in Bartes, where he was refused any help as well,” says the report. “Not knowing what to do, he proceeded to the American base Bondstil.”

.

Similar horror stories are recounted in the towns of Novo Brdo, Devet Jugovica, Pristina, Letnica, Urosevac, Kosovo Polje, Vitina and Banjska.

U.N. forces are also charged with a kind of ethnic profiling that directly aided the cause of Albanian ethnic cleansing. U.N. authorities overseeing the ethnic and religious balance in towns frequently identified Serbian Christian homes and Albanian Muslim homes. Sometimes yellow crosses were placed on the Christian homes – which helped identify targets for the persecutors, according to the Kosovo genocide report.

Again, I ask:  What in the world are we doing supporting (with time, money, & real estate) the useless, moronic, morally bankrupt U.N?

The disgusting UNHRC

Posted by Godefroi on July 11, 2007

An update on this post.

The UN Human Rights Council is overwhelmed with members that come from the worst oppressors in the world, who each unabashedly lie about the conditions in their own countries while trying to vilify the few free and fair nations that exist.

Thanks to Atlas Shrugs for this one.

The 5-minute video above offers a glimpse into how the UN’s highest human rights body—dominated by the worst abusers of human rights—is tragically being turned on its head, to attack democracies, destroy mechanisms of human rights protection, and assault the very idea of human rights.

Things are getting Weird around here

Posted by Godefroi on June 22, 2007

As an update to this comment, I thought I’d recognize the fact that U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon has condemned the UNHCR for singling out Israel for special consideration regarding human rights abuses.

While this doesn’t improve my opinion of the uselessness of the U.N., it is mildly uplifting to see a little bit of sanity.

Eye on the UN has an interesting analysis of the UNHCR.  And, as a side note, our friends up in Canada have little use for the UNHCR as well, as evidenced here.

The U.N. is a Waste of Our Money

Posted by Godefroi on June 20, 2007

The U.N. Human Rights Commission was disbanded in shame last year. It’s replacement, the U.N. Human Rights Council is following in its predecessors footsteps by condemning Israel for  defensive actions against hostiles, while completely overlooking the brutality perpretrated by other nations.

U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) has written a response to the HRC’s latest action, including a call to cease funding for this ridiculous organization – which I applaud.

Excerpt below, full text after the “read more” (with my added emphases) and at Eye on the UN (MS Word needed).

“The council’s obsession with condemning the democratic state of Israel as Palestinians in Gaza are massacred by Islamist terrorists has made it a mockery. By contrast, the Council has failed to condemn genocide in Darfur, the sprawling gulag of North Korea, political and human rights abuses in Cuba and Belarus, and bloody repression in Burma and Zimbabwe.
The United States and other defenders of human rights must refuse to pay for this poisonous charade.

Objectivity?

Posted by Godefroi on June 11, 2007

First, let me state unequivocally that I support our Constitution, and the First Amendment’s guarantee of a free press.  Whether it’s cartoons, opinions, satire, or actual news is irrelevant.  Free is free.  However, with freedom comes responsibility.  I think there are items that should not be made known to everyone, for example legal clandestine operations that our security services (CIA, etc.) undertake.  (Why let a criminal know he’s being watched?)  Having said that, if a news organization publishes something as news (i.e., factual), that agency has a responsibility to ensure that it is indeed factual, and that it remains objective unless the article is preceded by an explicit declaration that it is an opinion or conjecture.

If something is published primarily as a vehicle for swaying public opinion, it’s not really “news” any more.  It’s a statement of preference or ideology.

Today I read at Gates of Vienna (Nod) about the U.N. Special Envoy for monitoring of racism and xenophobia [Do we really need one of those? Whose definition of “racism” or “xenophobia”? Honestly, I really can’t understand why we still contribute to, let alone host, this silly organization], Dodou Diene, and his request of the international press to “actively help to create a multicultural society”.  He said “The media must transform diversity, which is a fact of life, into pluralism, which is a set of values…” Getting diversity accepted is the role of the education system, and acceptance is the role of the law, Diene said. “Promoting and defending diversity is the task of the media.

Excuse me? This guy wants to press to censor itself such that only pro-globalization, pro-multicultural viewpoints are presented, in order to convince the (gullible) public that this agenda is the only path to a great future.  I thank God that we can home-school our kids so that they won’t have to be subjected to this kind of insanity.

Again, the press can publish anything it wants as long as it’s ACCURATE and OBJECTIVE or is explicitly explained to be opinion.  No one who respects a free press is looking for, or will appreciate, what is simply just more propaganda.
