The Voice of the Martyrs confirmed reports that believers in Iran are being detained, interrogated and in one case, imprisoned because of their faith in Jesus Christ. According to VOM sources, this new wave of persecution is coming against Christians that meet to worship God in the privacy of their homes.
Liu Fenngang, a house-church leader in Beijing, was assaulted and detained by police, while he was going to a birthday celebration…Liu’s family was threatened and told not to draw public attention to his unlawful arrest…Liu was released from prison in February 2007, after serving three years for “providing national intelligence to overseas organizations,” by reporting a house church destruction case to overseas Christian organizations.
Muslim rioters attacked two Coptic Orthodox churches, damaged Christian-owned shops and injured seven Christians in two unrelated incidents in northern Egypt during the past week.
