Probability⁽²⁾ of randomly attaining only L-amino acids in a peptide chain 150 amino acids long: »1 in 10⁴⁵

Probability⁽³⁾ of getting a specific required amino acid at a specific required site: »1 in 20

Probability⁽⁴⁾ of getting any particular protein 150 amino acids long: »1 in 10¹⁹⁵

Probability⁽⁵⁾ of randomly producing a functional protein 150 amino acids long:  »1 in 10⁷⁴

Probability⁽⁶⁾ that a random 150-amino-acid compound would be a functional protein: »1 in 10¹⁶⁴

Remembering….

Walking through the company break room…it was time for a smoke.  A quick glance up at the TV in the corner.  Building on fire…what?  The World Trade Center?

Sitting down at one of the near tables, curious…thinking I should turn the sound up.  A few minutes later, a jet hurtling into one of the higher floors…massive explosion.  My God, what’s happening?  Hitting the volume button.  What?  That was the SECOND plane?  Are we under attack?

Sweet Jesus…50,000 people work there?  Please Lord, No.

Weeping.  Finally noticing there are others in the room now.  Going back to my desk…weeping more…praying.  Please Lord, No.

Did He hear my (our) prayers?

I’m certain He did.  As catastrophic as it was, it could have been much, much worse.  And yet…it was still TOO MUCH.

I haven’t forgotten.  I will not forget.  I will make certain my children never forget, even the one(s) who were not here yet at the time.  They will all know that the brightest star in Christendom – faded as she is – was attacked with ruthless cowardice by fundamentalist adherents to the “religion” most antithetical to the Truth.

And they will never submit.  I will never submit.

And we will always honor those lost, and those who served to save and recover.

Personal Note

SO….

If you hadn’t noticed, I’ve not been able to post with any regularity for about a year or so…maybe more?  I had the bright idea of subscribing to my own blog so I would at least know via email when someone commented, and I could then follow up.  Yeah…it was an idea, just not a good one.  It didn’t work.

To my friends whom have commented since my last post two months ago, please accept my apologies for not responding.  I haven’t been ignoring…I’ve just been ignorant.  And to the weirdo who commented last – a truth-bashing, Islam-praising nonsensical screed – I TRULY wish I had the time for you!
